Course objectives
Aim of the course is to introduce the field of developmental cooperation and global developmental education within it. At the end of the course students should be able to: understand the area of global developmental cooperation; apply elements of global developmental education into teaching practice.
First part of the course is focused on introduction to the field of global development. Second part deals with theory of development, development policy of international institutions and developed states including Czech republic.
Third part is focused on the role of NGOs in developmental cooperation and development education. Fourth part deals with global environmental and ecological education.
Syllabus
  • Introduction into the topic. Globalization and its consequences.
  • Theory of development, developmental policy of international institutions and developed countries including developmental cooperation of the Czech republic.
  • The role of NGOs in developmental cooperation and developmental education. Examples of development cycle.
  • Theory and praxis of global developmental education. Examples of educational programs.
  • Global environmental and ecological education. Examples of educational programs.
