Course objectives

An overview of the development and stylistic changes in the European music culture from the beginings of Christian plainsong to 1750 from the point of history, theory and sociology.

Syllabus

• Origins of Music, ancient cultures and reflexions of Music, gregorian chant, developement of polyphony, renaissance period, baroque period
