Course objectives
The course focuses on the development of academic writing in English. Text creation competences are enhanced by the implementation of different creative approaches – an approach through creative writing techniques, a task-based approach and a problem-solving approach. The methods help develop learners’ autonomy mainly thanks to an action-based character of the activities, learner-centredness, raised self-engagement in the activities, attractiveness and a demanding character of activities. The main focus will be learning by doing – students will practise writing in a wide range of creative activities. After finishing the course the students will • get an overview of creative strategies and methods enhancing learners’ autonomy, • acquire some specific strategies of writing academic texts in English language, • learn some techniques enhancing general writing and creative competences, • be able to reflect critically on the creative process and creative products, • will be able to apply the learned knowledge and skills to their own academic and creative activities.
