The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Management organisation course is focused on management, management skills, managing people and processes in business, organisations and institutions. The teaching is focused on discussions and reflection on texts given to study. Students will be introduced to various styles of leadership and management, they will recognize the classic style of leadership, but also modern and unconventional methods, that are very little used in the Czech republic, although they have a huge potential. At the end of the course students should be able to: - Understand the basic literature on the issue of management, management skills, management, motivation, teamwork - Apply theoretical knowledge to the management of people in work groups or tams - Understand the basics of managerial thinking - Understand the principles of managerial work and approaches to working with people (especially in working groups)
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to Management - what is management, management as the process of managing, managerial competence, future management, innovation management, historical development of management 2. Strategic Management - specification of strategic management, planning a managing of the organization, methods, models and techniques of strategic management 3. Management - Leadership - Management - introduction to the concepts of management and leadership, personality, executive function in the organization, personality characteristics, managerial role, the definition of leadership 4. Organization culture, motivation - concept, definition, elements of organization culture, values and attitudes, norms of behavior, structure, the impact of technology on organization culture, organization culture and individual, organization culture and strategy, impact forces on organization's efficiency, Motivation 2.0, the power of motivation, creativity, types of motivation 5. Knowledge management - creation and use of knowledge in the organization, dynamic learning, strategic planning and decision making, knowledge as the basis for the organization, knowledge management strategy 6. Project Management - definition of a project, project management processes, project management, project charter, project objectives, SWOT analysis, Gantt chart, Work Breakdown Structure, a succesful project, project financing, start-up 7. Freedom at work - traditional organisation vs. liberal organization, the principles of liberal companies, building liberal company 8. Corporate Social Responsibility - an explanation of the concept of corporate social responsibility, characteristics, three spheres of social responsibility, the benefits of CSR and its impact on organization performance, Fair Trade as part of social responsibility
