Course objectives
The main aim of this online self-study course is to provide students with regular practice of selected aspects of correct language usage, grammar and vocabulary, and skills, reading and listening comprehension. Practical advice and tips on how to approach different types of tests will be offered as well. The course will consist of the following:
- reading comprehension tests (tasks aimed at effective reading, understanding hidden meanings and a variety of stylistic features, extracting information from a text)
- listening comprehension (listening exercises with tasks to improve students' listening skills)
- vocabulary development activities
- clarifying and resolving those areas of language which remain problematic for advanced students, such as understanding and using phrasal verbs, idioms and collocations
