At the end of the course students should be able to:

understand basic facts of Chinese history;
understand essential concepts of Chinese historiography;
understand the importance of Chinese history for contemporary problems

  • 3) Shang dynasty and the beginning of the Zhou dynasty
  • 4) Western Zhou dynasty and the Spring and Autumn period
  • 5) Warring states period
  • 6) the unification of China in 221 BC and Qin dynasty
  • 7) Han dynasty
  • 8) Six dynasties period I
  • 9) Six dynasties period II
  • 10) Sui and Tang dynasties I
  • 11) Sui and Tang dynasties II
