- Course objectives
- This course provides students with preliminary knowledge to be applied in the course LJMgr B33. At the end of this course students will be able to:
- acquire sufficient vocabulary for expressing a social sciences-oriented scholarly text in Latin
- search a rarer term in a dictionary and specialized handbooks
master the basic Latin stylistics and formulate a correct sentence in Latin
- write a Latin summary of a scholarly text - Syllabus
- 1) Latin Phraseology.
- 2) Characteristics of various types of Latin styles, special attention will be paid to scholarly texts.
- 3) Neolatin texts.
- 4) Writing short Latin texts.
- 5) Writing a Latin summary of a scholarly text.

- Teaching methods
- The course includes practice in translating and interpretation of Latin specialized text - e. g. linguistic texts into Czech, but is focused on translation from Czech to Latin. Regular work at home and activi collaboration during the lessons is expected.

- To obtain the Credits: attendance, class discussion and semestral paper in Latin (at least 1800 characters).
