Course objectives
The course is dealing with broadening of theorethical knowledge to philosophical conceptualisation of theatre (philosophy of tragedy, philosophy of game etc.) both in their actual and historical versions. Students learn their historical impact and actual potential.

The course is inteded for master's students of DTS and it is mandatory for them.
The course is held in Czech.
Learning outcomes

At the end of the course student will be able to:
- sexplain basic philosophical conceptualisation of theatre;
- connect philosophical concepts on actual theatre.

  • Early philosopfical approaches to theatre (Aristotle x Platon)
  • Concept of katharsis
  • Main conpcepts of philosophy of tragedy (Hegel, Schopenhaufer, Nietzsche)
  • Theatre as game/play
  • General concepts of philosophy of play (Huizinga, Fink, Gadamer)
