Assessment methods
To receive credit, you must earn at least 25 points out of a total of 30 possible points for various learning activities or assignments. The scoring for the required activities or assignments is as follows:
- A total of 18 points may be earned for attendance and activity in seminars.
- A total of 12 points may be earned for  ELF assignments between seminars as preparation for the seminar.

What is involved in preparing for a seminar?
The study materials provided are followed by small assignments in the  ELF course that need to be completed before the seminar. At least 2 points can be earned for each of them.

What is meant by seminar activity and how will seminar activity be assessed?
Seminar activity means engaging in discussion. The scoring of a seminar activity looks like this:
- I do not participate in the seminar: I will receive 0 points for that class.
- Participating but remaining passive during the discussion (just listening): I will receive 1 point for the hour.
- I participate, but only join the discussion when prompted: I will receive 2 points per hour.
- I participate and engage in the discussion actively and independently: I get 3 points for the hour.
Anyone who contributes something to an ongoing discussion at least once during the seminar on his/her own, i.e. without being prompted by the instructor, will receive full points for activity in a given class.
