Teacher's information
The course provides psychology students with practical experience and a deeper understanding of the lives of people with ASD. You will become buddies for adolescents or young adults with autism spectrum disorder and spend time together each week in different activities such as board games, walks or creative activities. The choice of activities is entirely up to you, so you can tailor the programme to suit you and your partner. Your partners will be clients of Za Sklem and you will get to know the organisation's workings. Experience in working with people with ASD is an advantage. As the course is purely practical and you will be meeting a specific person, we have to take into account the real impact and the precious place you will have in your partner's life. For this reason, it is necessary that you attend the introductory meeting on 26 September at 17:00 in the organization Za Sklem Brno (Milady Horákové). At the meeting we will talk about your expectations, experiences and you will be able to evaluate for yourself whether you really want to go into the subject. Afterwards, some of you will be selected as partners and you will have an introductory workshop where they will be assigned a specific client. Once you have gone through these formalities, the arrangements will be yours and the weekly meetings will begin. We will meet together 3 times during the semester to see if everything is in order and what you might need. But you will get all the specific information at the workshop. We believe this course can have a big impact on people's lives and we look forward to working with you all.
The course is also listed under the following terms Spring 2025.
