Course objectives
The development of the Celtic ethnic group from the proto-Celtic period (the late Halstatt); the La Tene-Roman horizon in the western part of Europe and the LT D2 period in Central Europe; a territorial overview of the La Tene, with emphasis on regional developments: the island Celts, the La Tene in France and Switzerland, Celts in the Carpathian basin and in the Balkans, the Galacians in Asia Minor.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • V letním semestru se pozornost zaměří především na evropské Kelty a na jejich kontakty s dalšími barbarskými oblastmi (germánská, dácká, skýtsko-sarmatská). Studenti budou seznámeni s územními předpoklady laténu s důrazem na regionální specifika: Keltové ostrovní, latén ve Francii a Švýcarsku, Keltové v karpatské kotlině a na Balkánu, Galatové v M. Asii. Téma bude završeno zhodnocením kulturního, technického a civilizačního pokroku keltské společnosti a nastíněním příčin jejího zániku.
