Course objectives
This course follows up with the "Mathematical and Statistical Methods for Psychology I" course offered in autumn term. The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge of statistical methods relevant to quantitative research in psychology and other social sciences. While lectures focus on theoretical background of the statistical methods and procedures, seminars emphasize the application of the knowledge and the skills on the real psychological research data (SPSS software is used).
Syllabus
  • Hypothesis testing is the main subject matter of this part of the " Mathematical and Statistical Methods for Psychology" course. Particular topics: Contingency tables, Chí-square test Nonparametric tests Means comparison (Independent samples t-test, Paired samples t-test, One-sample t-test) Analysis of variance Measures of association (nominal and ordinal level of measurement) Measures of association (interval-ratio level of measurement - correlations, partial correlations) Regression analysis (univariate, multivariate) Factor analysis Cluster analysis
