Course objectives
Summer Programme in Religion: the course will be held from 19. 8. to 1. 9. 2007 at Faculty of Arts Masaryk University in Brno with the participation of students and lecturers from Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Poland, Slovenia and Romania. Lectures, presentations and workshops will be held in English. Thematically the summer intensive programme will focuse on the issues of the study of religiosity in contemporary Central Europe. Following topics will be discussed: Intercultural contacts and religious transformation; Challenges of the 21st century: Religion and modern technologies; Religious aspects of the relationships of majorities to ethnical minorities; New approaches and methods in the study of religion; Nationalism and religions in Central Europe; New Religious Movements in Central Europe; Adaptation of Eastern religions in Central Europe; Situation of Islam in Europe. Students may present their own contributions which will be published electronically. Assessment methods (in Czech)
The students of the summer intensive programme may complete the course either with a credit or a colloquium. Credits are given for active participation in lectures, discussions and workshops. Colloquium can be acquired for presentation of students' contributions - cca 10 pages of an English text. Short annotations of the students' contributions should be submitted to the coordinator of the course untill May 7 2007. Full-text of the students contributions will be published electronically after the summer IP.
