Course objectives
The seminar will concentrate on the interpretation of the works of Czech and Polish artists as i.e. K. Kryl, J. Hutka, J. Nohavica, J.K. Kelus, J. Kaczmarski, M. Grechuta. We will examine their songs, poems and other works as essays, prose, journalist articles.
Syllabus
  • This course will focus on the study of several problems. We will concentrate on the genre and its roots. We will examine the most common topics and themes as reaction on present events, the attitude towards faith and religion, love and their own life as an artist. We will analyze the most frequent poetry images and motives (used symbols, myths, legends). We will study the task of public performance as concerts, evenings with poetry. During the seminar we will deal with the authors relation towards their own work. The course will end with the insight on the present-day reception of their work, its present status and the contribution to the Czech and Polish culture and literature.
