The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The aim of this seminar series is to improve the reading skills and analyze dramatic texts (thematic and structural analysis of drama, generic classification etd.) and to interpret them. The assessment of the course will be based on seminar presentations.
Syllabus
  • The two-term course is concerned with creative writing (criticism, critical essays), as well as philosophic and theoretical questions of critical thinking and thinking of the contemporary theatre. The course will be based on public reading of one’s texts, followed by the discussion. The latter part of the course will be concerned with reading of classical texts which thematize the problems of art criticism, literature, or theatre. It will include a reflection of critical methods and means of writing of important Czech theater critics and thinkers in the 20th century as well as nowadays.
