Course objectives
The course will look at the traditional folk culture in Horňácko (region in Eastern Moravia) and its current status. Lectures will address the material and spiritual culture, history of the region, club activities, exhibitions, Horňácké slavnosti (Horňácko Celebrations) and Mladé Horňácko (Young Horňácko) festivals, most important personalities, audio-visual documents from Horňácko, etc. When graduating from this course the students will be capable of basic orientation in the material and spiritual culture of Horňácko.

  • Geographical delimitation of the area, population.
  • Cultural, political and religious history of the region.
  • Material culture: civil engineering, employment, crafts.
  • Folk clothing and its decoration.
  • Folk fine art.
  • Folk literature, literary folklorism.
  • Religious educational literature.
  • Annual and family customs and traditions.
  • Folk music and dance.
