Course objectives
A research seminar that aims to verify some of the existing conclusions about Czech cinema production of the 1930s. Students will look closely at groups of films (for the purposes of the seminar described as “progressive”, “purpose-made”, “auteur” etc.), they will research historical background of their production and will work on statistical analysis of their style and style analysis in general. During the seminar meetings we will try to formulate new conclusions.
Seminar should familiarize students with:
- work in groups;
- method of statistical analysis of film style;
- Czech cinema of the 1930s.
