Course objectives
The course is intended for students of Scandinavian Studies (including the first year) and other students, as the basic materials, instructions and assignments for the work are provided in Czech. Knowledge of foreign languages is required, since some of the materials includes texts eg in English or German. Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage. The aim is to give the students an insight into the historical events in Sweden of the 20th century and teach them to critically process information sources.
Syllabus
  • The course focuses on the basic historical context and events from Swedish history during the 20th century. It is divided into six themes, the first topic outlines the political and economic situation of the country in the late 19th century and the other four are devoted to individual 25 years of the 20th century. The final chapter provides a test and supplementary materials (glossary ad.).
