Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and compare main examples of forced migrations in the history of mankind from the wiew point of their political and economical circumstances.
Syllabus
  • Typology of migrations, typology of forced migrations. Terminology, for example: deportation, transfer, expulsion, ethnic cleansing. Examples of forced migrations in age ancient empires and antiquity. Middle ages, Byzantium and question of continuity or discontinuity of population policy in Orient. Forced migration as a part of law systems of middle european states at the gates of modernity. Enlightement and moving of people. Colonization of the new worlds. Conflict of civilizations. Deportation system to colonies. Forced migrations as instrument of social engineering Forced migrations at the era of nationalism Forced migrations as an solutions of international conflicts XX. century as the era of forced migrations
