Course objectives
▪ to define the concept of post-apocalyptic literature in the context of fantastic literature and science fiction.
▪ to understand the history and development of this genre in the world and in the Czech republic.
▪ to read the works of important Czech and foreign authors of the genre.
▪ to understand the multimedia overlap of post-apocalyptic literature - from literature to film, comics and video games.
Learning outcomes
Students completing the course will be able to:
▪ to orientate in the Czech and world post-apocalyptic literature;
▪ to define this sub-genre within the framework of fantastic literature as a whole;
▪ to orientate in the theory of the genre and apply it to specific primary texts.
