Course objectives (in Czech)
Po ukončení kurzu bude student schopen
- vztahovat poznatky z amerikanistických kurzů (literatura, kultura, historie) k vzájemným česko-americkým vztahům;
- znát historii literárních kontaktů, překladu z americké literatury, hlavní jména překladatelů, výběr autorů;
- identifikovat hlavní kulturní vlivy literární i mimoliterární (hudba, film) a kriticky hodnotit jejich projevy;
- orientovat se v základních historických bodech propojujících obě kultury (imigrace v USA, 2. sv. v., Studená válka, vývoj po r. 1989);
- znát základní instituce zabývající se vzájemnými kontakty a jejich činnost;

  • Political relations U.S.A. - Czech Reo. (main events: Masaryk in the U.S. and the founding of Czechoslovakia; end of WW II, Marshall's plan; Cold War, Velvet Revolution)
