- Course objectives
- Project course. Seminar specialized mainly on subtitling, partially on translation for dubbing. Specific projects in the field of artistic translation always focus only on one specific genre.
- Learning outcomes
- Students are aquainted with the basic principles of subtitling and with the specific aspects of translation for dubbing. Students are able to make use of their knowledge in practice.
- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction to subtitling and translation for dubbing. Task assignment. 2. Specific feature of Subtitling and translation for dubbing. 3. Analysis of sample fragments. 4. Workshop I. Subtitling principles. Technical aspects of subtitling, timing. 5. Workshop II. Subtitling principles. Technical aspects of subtitling, form and distribution of subtitles. 6. Workshop III. Subtitling Principles. Linguistic aspects of subtitling, the most common difficulties. Czech subtitles. 7. Workshop IV. Subtitling principles. Linguistic aspects, the most common difficulties. Spanish subtitles. 8. Student presentations of draft proposals I. 9. Student presentations of draft proposals II. 10. Workshop V. - Examples of the most problematic situations of particular films and their solutions. 11. Student presentation of the final version of the subtitles. 12. Projection of the film with subtitles. Discussion.

- 1. Classes, seminars: a) intensive course 10.2. - 14.2. 2020 b) Workshops and seminars during the semestr. 2. E-learning. 3. Individual and team consultations. Regular homework and thorough preparation is required.

- Students should meet assignment submission deadlines. Presentation of draft proposals of the project. Presentation of Final results of the project.
