Course objectives
The aim of the course is to familiarize students of translation studies at the master's level in German studies with the specifics of official (court) translation and the terminology of documents most often translated in the practice of a court translator by means of translation of sample texts. Students will learn the basic German and Czech terminology of official, judicial and police documents and the method of official (judicial) translation.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: - translate selected official, judicial and police documents from German into Czech and vice versa - reflect on the difficulties of the translated text from the point of view of a court translator - deal with partial and zero equivalence - reflect on the methodological background of official (judicial) translation - orient themselves in the field of judicial translation
