Course objectives
This one-semester course will introduce three of Claudio Monteverdi's most important operas (Orfeo, The Return of Ulysses to his Homeland, and The Coronation of Poppea) and evaluate their significance to the history of early opera.
Learning outcomes
The individual operas will be discussed in terms of libretto analysis, musical analysis and the integration of these operas into the historical context.

Teaching methods
Interpretation of the plot and libretto of the operas is connected with the recording.
Assessment methods
Requires 75% participation.
Test (in the middle of the semester), final test of the studied material.
