- Course objectives
- Main objectifs of the course are:
- to introduce problems of the theory and practice of modern textual scholarship;
- to obtain basic information about methodology, incl. terminology of the textual criticism;
- to learn about the historical background of the central concepts (manuscript, book, author, copyright, etc.) and the technical and legal conditions of book editing and publishing;
- to demonstrate on concrete examples from the history of Czech literature (Erben, Bezruč et al.) the multifaceted approaches and methods of textual scholarship and criticism. - Learning outcomes
- The students shall be able to describe the relationship between literary studies and textual scholarship (criticism).
The students shall be able to characterize the main theoretical conceptions using in textual criticism and its practices.
The students shall be able to apply in practice the basic knowledge of copyright law. - Syllabus
