- Know basic research procedures (research methodology),

- Course objectives
- The aim of the subject is to point out the role of the information worker and information literacy in research with a focus on systematic work with scholarly and research publications.
The course is designed as a practical one, where students will be introduced to the possibilities and principles of literature review, which they will apply as part of a group project (the main content of the second half of the semester). - Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- be aware of the differences between different types of literature reviews and in different fields,
- set the goal, procedures and activities for the processing of a systematic literature review (especially in the social sciences),
- be aware of the consequences of different literature review settings, including individual and group processing,
- systematically search for scholarly publications concerning the defined objective of the literature review,
- critically evaluate the searched scholarly publications for use in the literature review,
- analyze the content of publications to achieve a defined goal,
- write a scholarly article describing the literature review. - Syllabus
- 1. Course terms. Meaning and basic types of literature review.
- 2. A typical literature review processing procedure. Types and field specifics of LR.
- 3. Presentation of semestral topic.
- 4. Reference interview and defining the need.
- 5. Presentation of the topic for the group project. Defining the objective of the literature review.
- 6. Narrative and scoping literature review. Defining the methodology of systematic literature review.
- 7. Searching publications for review.
- 8. Cooperation in teams for LR, software and tools for LR.
- 9. Assessment and evaluation of publications, research, and information.
- 10. Qualitative analysis of the content of publications, results and their interpretation.
- 11. Quantitative analysis of publications' content, results and interpretation.
