Course objectives
An introduction to the field of the Civic Society for the students who have interest in the field of NGO's. At the end of this course the students should be able to: define the position of Civic Society organizations within our legal system; list the basic ways of creating them; describe the economic and legal aspects of Civic Society Organisations in the Czech Republic; list its subjects; explain the uniqueness of their position; list important institutions for the development of the Civic Society; .

  • 2. Czech civic society, its presuppositions, origins, forms.
  • 3. Czech tradition of cluv activities.
  • 4. Changes after 1989: organizing civic society
  • 5. Changes after 1989: NIR, RV NNO, state and EU funding policy
  • 6. Subjects of civic society
  • 7. Civic sector in Europe and in the world
  • 8. Legislative for civic society organizations
  • 9. Economical framework. Financing and fundraising in the civic sector.
  • 10. Marketing and PR
  • 11. Annual reports, the tool of transparency. Web sites.

Credit will be awarded for presence on lectures and for completing duties assigned in Bi1221c I - practical course. The course is concluded with a written exam.
