Course objectives

At the end of the course students should be able to: explain basic morphological terms (valve, raphe, central pores, axial area, costae, stiae), understand the most crucial identification features of diatoms, work with information on bioindication, diversity and autoecology and understand important field and laboratory methods used in diatomology.

• 1. Úvod, obecná charakteristika rozsivek, vysvětlení základních pojmů
• 2. Systém rozsivek, morfologické pojmy
• 3. Centrické rozsivky
• 4. Historie diatomologického výzkumu, rozsivky bez raphe
• 5. Rozsivky s raphe na jedné valvě
• 6. Metriky, rozsivky s raphe na obou valvách
• 7. Trendy v současné diatomologii
• 8. Metodiky, rozsivky s kanálkovou raphe
• 9. Gompho-cymbeloidní rozsivky
• 10. Ekologie rozsivek
• 11. Využití rozsivek
• 12. Kritické taxony rozsivek
