Course objectives
Relationships in Pooideae assessed by phylogenetic analysis of structural character variation and sequence variation - Poa, currently the largest genus of grasses with about 500 species, occuring throughout temperate and boreal regions in both hemispheres - A phylogenetic study of Poa focuses on basal relationships, generic boundaries, and placement of isolated species and putatively closely related genera will be presented - Phylogenetic classifications of Poa based on chloroplast DNA sequence data and restriction site data of total and PCR amplified chloroplast DNA.
