Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with geophysical measurements in boreholes and explain petrophysical data.
Learning outcomes
After the course, students will be able to interpret petrophysical data from boreholes (logging) with a focus on oil and gas production or use in water management and environmental protection
Syllabus
  • 1 Introduction Introduction to Petrophysics, basic concepts, practical application (bearing studies, operational Petrophysics), methods used. Market situation, future outlook (optimistic), application Czech expert at home and abroad. 2 Logging methods Types of logging methods - electric, nuclear, acoustic, special. 3 Sampling and testing of wells Removing cores and bearing fluids. Testing earmarked drilling intervals. 4 Laboratory analysis of drill cores Conventional measurement (ccala) and special analysis (SCAL) cores. 5 Interpretation petrophysical data Assembly and QC (quality control) data. Qualitative and quantitative interpretation. Devote bearings and contacts. Determination of parameters of rock collectors - the clay, porosity, saturation, permeability. Determination of effective bearing intervals. Familiarization with different techniques INTERPRETATION - conventional, function of water-saturation height (height saturation function), definition of collector units (rock typing) 6 Examples of real projects Work-flow of petrophysical project. Familiarization with the environment projects in the oil industry - multinational, multi-cultural teams, international scope of projects. Application and the role of independent consultant. Using advanced software applications.
