Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to acquire practical skills for documentation of geological objects. Students will learn general methods of geological mapping and detailed logging of outcrops, exposures and shallow bore holes or trenches. GIS and vector-graphic editor software will be used in processing and presenting of recorded data at the end of the course.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- perform geological mapping;
- take representative samples;
- document outcrops, exposures, shallow bore holes and trenches;
- plot data acquired in field;
Syllabus
  • Field techniques and methods of geological mapping, textures and structures of the rocks, rocks classification, using of geological compass, geological map and log.
