     Methodology – Bonus contribution to the research groups of CEITEC MU for their scientific
                                            excellence

                                   (effective as of 2 June 2015)


Article 1

Introduction

(1)       This methodology for granting bonus contributions to the research groups of CEITEC MU for
their scientific excellence (hereinafter “Methodology”) describes the system of bonus evaluation of
excellent scientific results of the research groups within CEITEC MU.


Article 2

Evaluated results

(1)          The evaluation covers all results fully meeting the following criteria:

·            J-type results (articles published in magazines)

·            publication in the years 2012, 2013 and 2014

·            records of the articles were duly registered in the information system (IS MU) in the
“Publications” module

·            the results were duly transferred to the RIV and at least a part of the result was
dedicated to CEITEC MU

Note: The result is only evaluated in the year when it was duly transferred to the RIV, i.e. if the
result was not duly transferred to the RIV in the year of its publishing and was only transferred
to the RIV one year later, it must also be evaluated with the one year delay. For the purpose of
determining the parameter V[pc], all non-investment revenues generated in the preceding year shall
be taken into consideration. All types of revenues shall have the same weight of 1.0.


Article 3

Articles J

(1)          Point evaluation (zero or non-zero) is only granted to articles published in
high-impact magazines and journals specified in the Web of Knowledge and Journal Citation Report by
Thomson Reuters. The resulting point evaluation of the given publication for the given group is
influenced by the following factors:

a)    R (ranking) – The ranking of the journal in which the article was published in the group of
magazines and journals in the given area of specialisation in the given year. If the journal is
included in several specialisation groups, the resulting point evaluation (score – S) is calculated
on the basis of the average of the two best rankings. The ranking is converted to S by means of the
function described in Annex No. 1 hereof. The value of R factor can also be calculated on the basis
of two independent quotations pertaining to the relevant article. R is calculated by means of
adding together all the independent quotations of the article in the given period of time and
dividing the sum by the number of years since its publishing, not including the year of the
publishing or any quotations of that year. The real impact factor (RIF) of the article calculated
in this manner then determines the ranking in the given specialisation group of journals and
magazines according to JCR in the year of publishing of the journal containing only this particular
article, as well as the ranking (average of the two or one best ranking) is converted to S by means
of the same function as described above. The evaluation of articles with the use of RIF is
different for each year, for which reason it is necessary to perform a separate evaluation for each
year.

Note: The underlying materials for evaluation based on independent quotations, i.e. the list of
articles containing quotations, shall be provided by the head of the research group and only after
this, the relevant change can be incorporated in the evaluation.

b)    C (co-operation) – A factor used for evaluating the level of co-operation on publications
among different research groups, research programmes or groups belonging to Life Science and
Material Science sections. This factor may have the following values:

·         1 – where the author(s) of the publication are from the same research group within CEITEC
or where the other authors do not belong to CEITEC at all;

·         1.2 – where some of the author(s) are from the same research group and, at the same time,
the other co-authors of the publication are members of another group within the same research
programme;

·         1.3 – where where some of the author(s) are from the same research group and, at the same
time, the other co-authors of the publication are members of another group within another research
programme;

·         1.5 – where some of the author(s) are from any Life Science research group and, at the
same time, the other co-authors of the publication are members of any Material Science research
group.

c)    SH (share) – A factor used for evaluating the share on the publication. Its value may be 1 if
the main or corresponding author is from the given evaluated group (the main group). If the group
is not classified as the main group (i.e. secondary group), the SH factor is calculated as the
share of the number of the secondary group members to the number of all authors of the publication.

d)    D (dedication) – A factor derived from the share dedicated by the authors to the given
organisational unit of CEITEC MU in the RIV evaluation. Its value may range between 0 and 1,
depending on the information stated in the IS MU.

(2)          The resulting point evaluation (final score – FS) of the given publication is
calculated as follows:

                                      FS = S (R) x C x SH x D

In the case of a secondary group, this score is final, in the case of a main group, the shares of
all co-operating groups must be deducted from this score.

Article 4

Point evaluation (score) of the group

(1)          The point evaluation (score) of the group includes point evaluations (scores) of all
results included in the evaluation of the relevant period of time, authored by members of the given
group. The point evaluation (score) is performed for each year and the resulting point evaluation
(score) is calculated as the average of these annual scores.

(2)          If the author is transferred to a different research group in the course of the
relevant period, the score of the result remains with the original research group and it is up to
an agreement between the author and the head of the original research group whether the
remuneration for the share on the given publication will be paid out to the author.


                                             Article 5

                                       Financial conversion

(1)          The final point evaluation (score) is converted to financial value as a multiple of
the number of points scored and the value of each point. The value of each point is determined each
year and it should not change by more than 20% on the year-to-year basis.

(2)          The amount of the bonus contribution paid out in one year may not exceed one half of
the annual budget of the given research group.


Article 6

Final provisions

(1)          The person responsible for the interpretation of this Methodology is the head of the
Science and Education Support Department.

(2)          The person responsible for the preparation of underlying materials for evaluation is
the head of the Science and Education Support Department.

(3)          The person responsible for the submission of underlying materials for the evaluation
calculation in the case of using independent quotations is the head of the research group in the
evaluation of which the given publication belongs.

(4)          The person responsible for the preparation of financial outputs is the deputy director
of CEITEC MU.

(5)          The evaluation results shall be provided to heads of the research groups within the
scope of evaluation of the given research group, to the programme co-ordinators within the scope of
evaluation of the given research programme, and to the director of CEITEC MU within the scope of
evaluation of all research programmes.

(6)          This regulation takes effect on the day of its approval by the director of CEITEC MU.
