Description
The Dean of the Faculty of Informatics MU invites
applications for one position of Assistant Professor in
Cybersecurity, with the Department of Computer Systems
and Communications. This position is aimed to strengthen
the work of the Centre for Research on Cryptography
and Security (CRoCS – crocs.fi.muni.cz) at the Faculty
of Informatics. CRoCS works to improve security and privacy
of real­‑world solutions through applied research (often
in cooperation with industry) and advanced education of
future security professionals. System security or network
security focus are most desired, yet the abilities to work
with a team of graduate students and faculty on research
targeting top security/crypto conferences and to engage both
undergraduate and graduate students in both educational and
research exercises are most critical.

Requirements

and research in the IT security area
	– Expert knowledge in at least one of the
areas covered by courses:
	– PV181 Laboratory of Security and Applied Cryptography
	– PA193 Secure coding principles and practices
	– PA197 Secure Network Design
	– Practical involvement in the development phase of
software project(s) with ability to demonstrate tools
developed and showcase data analyses performed
	– Flexible personality, able to work well in teams
	– Languages – fluent English (both spoken and
written), other language(s) welcome
	– Experience from other countries than
Czech & Slovak republics (at least half a year)
Desired Skills and Achievements
	– Experience with research project team
leadership is an advantage
	– Experience with research achievements published at
the top security conferences or best journals publishing
cybersecurity or applied cryptography research results
	– Ability to work well in interdisciplinary teams
	– Successfully defended bachelor and/
or master theses supervised
	– Open­‑source projects development and maintenance
Other Information
The starting salary for this Assistant Professor position is
74,000 CZK, and with the progress in this tenure­‑track position
can in no more than 3 years be modified based on the level of
involvement in research and educational projects. Candidates
with borderline record and/or missing skills may be offered
a Lecturer position for the start of their engagement. The
monthly salary for the Lecturer position 46,000–55,000 CZK.

Description
The Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University (FI MU)

The Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University invites
applications for two two­‑year Postdoc positions in Computer

The monthly salary is 63,000 CZK (more than 29,000 EUR
per year at total). Additional funds will be available for travel

The successful candidate must
	– be a researcher who has received a PhD or its
equivalent ideally within the last 7 years;
	– be a researcher who has worked at least two whole
years within the last three years outside the territory
of the Czech Republic in the field of research or
as a PhD student (or equivalent) abroad;
	– have a publishing record – during the last three years
at least two publication outputs registered in the WoS
or Scopus databases and (at the same time) marked as
“article”, “book”, “book chapter”, “letter” or “review”;
	– be fluent in English, while prior knowledge
of Czech is not required.
Specific selection criteria include
	– background and a strong research record in one
of the research areas listed above, and willingness
to work on topics which are in the current
research focus of the Faculty of Informatics;
	– publishing record at some of the top international
Computer Science conferences (according to
the CORE ranking) in the research area;
	– potential candidates are also strongly advised to
informally contact the matching research group(s) at
the Faculty of Informatics (see fi.muni.cz/research/)

The faculty is a home to a diverse group of research labora‑
tories and centres where students at all levels participate in

Renowned Scientists
In 2019 two holders of the ACM Turing Prize, Donald E. Knuth
and Dana Scott, held lectures at Masaryk University and the
Faculty of Informatics. Donald E. Knuth has a strong relation
to the FI, and since 1996 has been Doctor honoris causa in
the field of mathematical sciences of the Masaryk University
on the proposal of the FI. In 2019 the Faculty of Informatics
established Donald E. Knuth Professor chair, currently held
by prof. Daniel Kráľ.
