In addition, it does not implicitly provide access to any additional data sources. These factors limit its usage to desktop computers. Goal of this project is to provide users with easy access to the library catalogue Aleph through native mobile applications. SmartLib is financed from MUNI33/012013 project. All sources are distributed under GNU/AGPL. vi £13:16 lately rated favourites Den trifidü. Users can use text input search queries or scan barcodes via phone camera, thus making searching easier. Also, they can decide which book to borrow according to its rating and reviews. Last but not least, they can participate in creating those reviews by themselves. Working beta version of the system can be downloaded from the QR code ink below. Methodology We use Ruby OpenShift cloud powered backend service to mash up desired data sources. Base data are daily updated in a form of a dump of Aleph's database. These data are adjusted, normalized, and stored in MySQL database. Furthermore, table for storing reviews and ratings is created. Once book details are required, backend service provides values from Aleph, reviews and ratings, book covers from Obalkyknih.cz, and PDF preview from Google Books, if available. Backend service communicates with mobile clients (Android, iOS, Windows Phone) via RESTIike JSON API. Calls to the API encompass user registration, login, book searching, book availability searching, review/rating handling, book category listing (top rated, newly added). Future Work We plan to integrate Online Public Access Catalog to handle borrowings, provide sharing content to social services, navigation in library sections using Universal Decimal Classification, and use authentication authorities such as MojelD for login functionality.
