That’s why Konica Minolta is setting up a Business Innovation Centres (BIC). The function of the BIC is to initiate, support and manage new business and technology development, as well as to incubate new ICT service businesses for Konica Minolta. Konica Minolta opened the Client Briefing Centre of European Business Innovation Centre (BIC) in Brno on March 18, 2015. PROJECT – KONICA MINOLTA WEARABLE COMMUNICATOR (GOOGLE GLASSES FOR INDUSTRY) The prototype of Konica Minolta Wearable Communicator (smart glasses) was developed based on Konica Minolta experience accumulated via the optics and the photo imaging businesses. It uses unique HOE (Holographic Optical Element) to display the information in HD ready quality, which exceeds the quality of any other solution on the market. Current project status – The development is moving from the Rough concept phase to the Detailed concept phase based on identified use cases for customers from automotive, oil & gas, manufacturing or maintenance. Integration of advanced technologies like Augmented Reality or algorithms for advanced image processing is planned. SCOPE OF THE INTERIM PROJECT The student will support current project team and will be directly involved in most of the key activities of the Detailed concept phase: • Definition of use cases based on the conversation with potential partners and customers • Specification of demo applications based on the use cases • Implementation of demo applications (Java, HTML) based on the conversations with customers • Visualisation of use cases in form of storyboards (in cooperation with design studio) • Participation on activities like Market research, Business Plan development, Prototype specification • Presentation of the project internally and externally • Participation on internal and external meetings – potentially abroad (across the Europe) Konica Minolta Business Solutions Czech, spol. s r. o. He/she will come in contact with next-gen technologies which require self-study and information research. He held several management positions while being responsible for business strategy, business expansion, strategic alliances, sales and marketing. He has extended connections to start-up scene, university research and academia. Zdenek holds M.Sc. and RNDr. (Rerum Naturalium Doctor) from Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University Brno. He also studied selected MBA courses at Loyola University Chicago. Petr Kazda, Service Lab Manager - Petr has strong background in IT, mainly high tech topics like AI, computer vision, robotics, evolutionary algorithms and related topics. In last 8 years he worked mainly on management positions. Most significant projects were related to NATO Codification System and Enterprise Content Management. He is currently responsible for Brno Service Lab where Konica Minolta is developing proof-of-concepts for business-led innovation projects filling the gap between R&D and business. Milan S. Lakhani, Strategist & Manager, Innovation and Incubation - Milan’s main areas of expertise are setting up innovation programmes in a corporate environment, globally, understanding cultural paradigms and creating a framework to provide a structure & governance for on-going innovation. Milan spent 16 years with Hewlett Packard (HP), of which the last 6 years were within the office of the CEO, setting up one of the largest enterprise innovation programmes in the IT Services industry. Milan holds a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics & Information Technology, and is a certified practitioner of PRINCE2. Matej Dusik, R&D Strategy and Technology manager - Matej’s background is computer science with focus on computer graphics and computer vision. Matej has 8 years’ experience as a technical manager of Human Factors / User Experience / SW prototyping and trajectory management teams in Honeywell Aerospace Advanced Technology EU. Additional Matej has 4 year experience from Siemens telecommunication division where he did development of 4th generation GMS telecommunication network infrastructure.
