MUNI FI The admission criteria for the doctoral study programme at the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University The necessary prerequisites for admission to doctoral programmes at the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University, are as follows: 1) Successful completion of the master's degree study programme Applicants for enrolment in the doctoral programme are required to submit an officially approved copy of their diploma, no later than at the time of enrolment to the study (if applicants successfully completed their master's studies at Masaryk University, it is not necessary to submit a copy of the diploma). For applicants who have completed a master's programme in another country, it is necessary to provide documentation verifying their education in accordance with the conditions outlined on the Faculty of Informatics'website: https://www.fi.muni.cz/admission/verification.html.en or Masaryk University website: https://www.muni.cz/en/admissions/recognition-of-foreign-education/general; 2) Successful completion of the admission exam; 3) Admission of foreign citizens to a doctoral study programme must be in accordance with the obligations arising from the international agreements to which the Czech Republic is bound, and it may also be subject to restrictions (it may result in the impossibility of admission of citizens of foreign countries). The admission requirements for a doctoral study programme • submission of an electronic application (including the name of the supervisor, a described research topic, and a structured professional curriculum vitae); • two letters of recommendation (one letter of recommendation may be from the expected supervisor); • an explicit statement from the prospective supervisor on the leadership of the student; • payment of the admission fee; • submission of the Master's Degree Diploma and Diploma Supplement or transcript of records (an officially certified copy if it has not already been submitted to Masaryk University); 1/3 If the date of admission precedes the date of regular completion of study, submission of a full list of courses enrolled and completed, including grades (confirmed by the relevant university), and on the enrolment day: submission of a certified copy of the Master's Degree Diploma and Diploma Supplement or state exam certificate is required; If study documents are submitted in a language other than Czech, Slovak, or English, the faculty requests an officially certified translation of these documents into Czech or English; • in case of interest in studying in English, submission of a language competencies certificate (statement from the applicant in case of native speakers; a state exam certificate, TOEFL certificate, etc.) is required; the admission committee may recognize the applicant's language competences according to an oral interview; • passing an oral part of the admission exam - may be waived by the admission committee on the basis of the aforementioned written materials. In such a case, the admission committee recommends the applicant for admission to the Dean. • An application that has not been approved in the Information System by the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University, is considered an incomplete application; we do not process such applications any further. The criteria for the admission exam for the doctoral study at the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University The admission committee assesses applicants' skills for creative work in computer science as a scientific discipline as well as their competencies in English communication. The chair and the committee members are proposed by the Doctoral Board of Fl MU and appointed by the Dean. Based on the assessment of written documents submitted by the applicant, the admission committee decides whether it is necessary to invite a particular applicant for an oral interview. The committee may waive the interview, especially if the applicants have achieved excellent results during their previous master's studies (excellent grade point average, an outstanding master's thesis, etc.). During a 15-30-minute oral interview, applicants are expected to demonstrate their general knowledge of computer science and proficiency in areas relevant to their intended area of study. Additionally, the applicants are required to demonstrate their ability to communicate in English. The interview consists of questions asked by committee members. The applicants respond to a part of the questions in English. At the discretion of the admission committee, it is also possible to carry out this interview as a video conference, especially if the applicants are foreign citizens. Based on a thorough assessment of the written documents and the interview, the admission committee will recommend whether the applicant is to be admitted to a doctoral programme or not. If an oral interview is waived, the admission committee will recommend admitting the applicant. Information regarding the admission procedure and the recommendation of admission or rejection is provided by the committee to the Doctoral Board Fl MU. Subsequently, the Board formulates its opinion on the recommendation. The recommendation from the admission committee, along with the opinion of the Doctoral Board, is then forwarded to the Dean of Fl MU, who will make the final decision on the acceptance or rejection of each applicant. The admission requirements and procedures for the doctoral study programmes Informatika/Computer Science at the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University, as outlined above, shall remain in effect until changes or revisions are necessary.
