Special invitation to students and instructors from the Czech Republic – winter/spring 2022 Gerlev Physical Education and Sports Academy in Denmark offers an international sports leader educational course – The International Sports for All Leader Education – for young students and instructors in sport and physical activity who would like to spend the spring semester - at Gerlev P.E. and Sports Academy in Denmark. The course is open to students from Europe, Asia, North and South America. However, this is a special invitation to students and instructors from the Czech Republic. Possible dates: Winter/ spring semester 2/1-25/6 2022 Purpose: The main purpose of this educational program is to offer a sport leaders education to students and instructors who want to develop themselves in areas of sports, health and tourism. The second purpose is a desire to promote international cooperation between young students Background - Gerlev P.E. and Sports Academy The Academy was founded in 1938 as an international highly respected institution for education of youth leaders for the sport for all development in Denmark. The Academy is the first P.E. and Sports Academy in Denmark. The specific goals of the International Sports for All Leaders Education The educational program at Gerlev P.E. and Sports Academy will improve the individual’s competence and skills by: - improving personal and teaching skills in different sports e.g. dance, ballgames/basketball, Beachvolley, out-door activities/adventure, parkour, CrossFit, Natural Move etc. - observing sports and teaching methods in different settings like sports clubs, community programs, workplaces and schools - observing and teaching sport and physical activity programmes related to specific target groups - developing skills withing traditional sports games as a unique learning environment: The Gerlev Historical Play Park acknowledged as a European Regional Center for Traditional Sport and Games by TAFISA (The Association for International Sport for All) and as such part of the UNESCO Steering Committee for TSG. - developing the understanding of democracy and life philosophy through sport and physical activity Teaching staff The students will meet the teachers and coaches from Gerlev P.E. and Sports Academy as well as from Gerlev’s Historical Play Park and researchers from the Institute for research in Sport, Health and Civil Society, University of Southern Denmark, situated in the academy. Both Institutions are unique in Europe. Lecturers, coaches and sports politicians from the Parliament and Sports organizations will also share their knowledge with the international group. International Certificate The students who complete the International Sports for All Leaders program will receive an International Certificate from Gerlev P.E. and Sports Academy to document and describe the content of the education. Language: The International Sports for All leaders Program is taught in both Danish and English. Classes in Danish will be translated by the teachers or other students Daily life: The students stay in shared bedrooms – 2 to 3 persons per room The students select the following:  1 major subject in sport/physical activity – 8 lessons a week  1 minor subject in sport/physical activity – 6 lessons a week  1 study subject – 2 lessons x 2 a week  Mandatory joint classes on democracy, philosophy, history etc – 2 lessons a week. Examples of major and minor subjects: Dance/streetdance, Beachvolley, Football, Bouldering, Outdoor, Crossfit, Freeskiing, Snowboarding, Sport 360 etc. Examples of study subjects and joint classes: - Sport activities, theory and practice - Sports pedagogical aspects - Sports sociology and psychology - Play and Games as a tool in modern teaching - Physical activity, Active Living-strategies and Health Promotion - Intercultural competencies and Democratic Education During the stay there will be different excursions and cultural programme outside the Gerlev P.E. and Sports Academy. We do expect the students to be highly motivated. We expect self-discipline, responsibility and a great deal of energy. Furthermore, we expect the students to follow the general rules of the Academy. The management holds the right to expel students for disciplinary reasons. Price: Thanks to public funds in Denmark the international students will have to pay: - 1200 DKK for tuition/food and accommodation per week - Between 3000 – 6000 DKK for 1-2 mandatory Team Building/ major trips abroad (depends on the major subject). - 3825 DKK for teaching materials and special Gerlev sports Clothes In total for January – June 2022 (25 weeks): 36 825 – 39 825 DKK The major sport subjects arrange various trips abroad which are also mandatory for international students. The trips are depending on the majors special interest however examples of travel destinations for a one week study tour are:  Dance and sport 360 go to Berlin/London  Parkour goes to Paris  Basketball, Football and Beachvolley go to Barcelona  CrossFit and Natural Move go to a European destination Students must pay their own travelling expenses to and from the academy – and bring their own pocket money. Students must also arrange their own travel and health insurance. Payment terms: You may choose to pay the entire amount no later than 6 weeks before the stay begins OR you pay half the amount and then divide the rest into two rates and pay during your stay. The tuition and programme fee includes: - accommodation in double or triple room (incl. cover sheets, etc.) - daily food – 3 meals a day + 2 tea- and coffee-breaks - the educational programme at Gerlev P.E. and Sports Academy - study materials - Sustainable Gerlev clothing, lunch pack and water bottle Who can apply?  You have to be interested in sport as performer or P.E. student  You have to be able to communicate well in English – spoken and written  It is necessary that you do not have long term injuries or other health problems when beginning the course You can apply by contacting your university or by mail to our Gerlev Representative in the Czech Republic: Mgr.
