Transitions (TOL), a Prague-based journalism trainer and publisher, is seeking
participants for a semester-long course in information verification starting in
February 2017 and lasting through mid-May. The course will provide future
reporters with the means to effectively recognize propaganda and expose
inaccuracies through training in the latest online tools and techniques.
Participants will also gain a background in the roots of disinformation and how it
works.
Top local and foreign instructors will lead three workshops throughout the
semester (Prague, Brno, and Olomouc) and an online course. TOL will cover all
travel expenses for all attendees.
Participants will be required to attend all three workshops, as well as take the
online course, which will require approximately two hours per week in terms of
commitment and include several assignments to complete at home. The first
workshop will take place in Prague on 13-14 February.
Applicants must be second- or third-year undergraduates, either in a journalism
program or having shown a strong interest in the profession. While much of the
instruction will be in Czech, fluent English is a requirement.
