Internal grant agency (InGA) Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University LF Accelerate Call 2023 Internal grant agency, the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University 2/4 PROGRAM This funding program is designed to assess the application potential of research results and achieve a significant shift towards clinical practice. It applies the principles of the highly successful SPARK Stanford Program. ELIGIBILITY • The applicant must be an employee of the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University (engaged in research), at least 0.5 employment contract under the faculty. • It is a project of applied research or experimental development according to the Frascati manual definition. • The project proposal addresses an unmet clinical need and has the potential for application in clinical practice. • The project will accelerate the subject to the next Technology Readiness Level, TRL. • Planned activities are not the subject of another project. CALL OPEN September 6th, 2022 – October 10th, 2022 PROJECT APPLICATION The application must include: a) ISEP electronic project proposal form • Project summary, the aim of the project; • Existing unmet clinical needs; intended end users (clinical impact, patient benefit); • Technology description and innovation objectives; technology readiness level (TRL) start position and target TRL; • Uniqueness and novelty of the solution; non-obvious, surprising features; previous publications; intellectual property rights in the project; • Existing solutions; competitive landscape; proposed competitive advantage; • Potential partners and their interest in the project results; preliminary feedback; • Future product and anticipated regulatory pathway (important distinguishing features, indication, price estimate, regulatory considerations); • Quarterly activities, objectives, and results; • Project team; • List of annexes (list of all the relevant annexes uploaded to the ISEP system dedicated Document tab); • Financial budget (indicated in CZK), financial budget justification. b) Annexes according to the nature of the project - Informed Consent Form, Statement of the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Medicine, or the Committee for the Protection of Laboratory Animals, Authorization for special activities (GMO handling, etc.) c) CV of the principal investigator (max. 1 page) d) 1-minute video to introduce the development aim of the project and the team (zip-file format) HOW TO APPLY The applicant must submit the project proposal via the ISEP system. All the relevant annexes must be uploaded to the ISEP system dedicated Documents tab. Internal grant agency, the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University 3/4 FUNDING The total amount allocated for this call is CZK 1,500,000, with up to CZK 500,000 per project for up to 2 years to support applied medical research. ELIGIBLE COSTS Personnel costs (salaries, bonuses, other agreements on work activities of persons participating in the project) may not exceed 25% of the entire project costs. Other direct costs • Material consumption • Low-value tangible and intangible assets • Costs for the protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) no invest • Services • Travel costs (meeting with partners) Investment costs • IPR costs • Other investment costs EVALUATION Project proposals will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of the InGA board members and external experts and selected for funding based on the compiled rankings. The InGA board decides on the proposals for awarding financial support. START OF FUNDED PROJECTS January 1st, 2023 PROJECT MONITORING The progress of projects selected for funding is reviewed quarterly in the ISEP system. Quarterly checklists are submitted until the 14th day following the end of the relevant calendar quarter. The final monitoring report must be submitted within 6 months after the end of the project implementation. The Grant Office of the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, in cooperation with the Office for Research and Quality of the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, ensures the formal and factual control of the submitted monitoring reports. The InGA board approves the final monitoring report.
