First aid – Instructions and organisation Lukáš Dadák The subject First Aid ̶ this subject consists of two parts: ̶ lectures – they are available online in the First aid e-learning in the part Video lectures ̶ practices – organised in the Simulation centre of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University ̶ completion of the subject First Aid: ̶ lectures are completed with a colloquium ̶ practices are completed with a credit 2 3 First Aid – practice ̶ the practice consists of 6 units and 1 consultation ̶ the topics of the practices correspond to the structure of the units of the e-learning: ̶ Unit 1 Approach to the unresponsive patient ̶ Unit 2 Basic life support and AED in adult ̶ Unit 3 Pediatric basic life support, foreign body airway obstruction ̶ Unit 4 Management of the bleeding, basics of the bandaging, management of the patient in shock ̶ Unit 5 Fractures, immobilization, moving an unresponsive patient ̶ Unit 6 Other life-threatening conditions ̶ the consultation is not obligatory, if you take part in all 6 units before 4 Before the practice: ̶ go through the e-learning materials and watch the corresponding video lectures ̶ fill in the pre-test (ROPOTS in IS MUNI, the link is always in the end of the unit in the chapter Unit summary and test) ̶ it contains 5 questions ̶ one correct answer ̶ to pass the test you have to answer 4 from 5 questions correctly ̶ unlimited number of attempts ̶ passing the pre-test is a requirement to attend the practice! 5 After the practice: ̶ fill in the post-test (ROPOTS in IS MUNI, the link is always in the end of the unit in the chapter Unit summary and test) ̶ you fill in the post-test only once ̶ there is no minimum point benchmark defined ̶ fill in the evaluation form to assess the practice (ROPOTS in IS MUNI, the link is always in the end of the unit in the chapter Unit summary and test) 6 Credit from the practice ̶ to complete the subject First Aid – practice you have to: ̶ complete 6 pre-tests ̶ take part in all 6 units in the practices (the consultation is not obligatory, if you take part in all 6 units before) ̶ fill in 6 post-tests after the practices ̶ fill in 6 evaluation forms after the practices 7 Written excuces and substitution of the practice ̶ standard way via International Studies Office ̶ substitution possible after agreement: ̶ on Fridays in the week, when is the practice taught, from 2:30pm ̶ in the week at the end of the semester, when the consultations will be organised (11.1.2021 to 16.1.2021) ̶ if longer time absent, contact individually International Studies Office for further plan 8 Add weeks - SIMU 355; 357 9 Colloquium ̶ from January 25th to February 26th 2021 in SIMU ̶ consists of two parts: ̶ theoretical test contains questions from the topics of the practices and also of the video lectures – OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) ̶ practical student will solve 1 simulation corresponding with the topics of the practices student will be evaluated by a standardized checklist the course of the practical part is similar to the practices Organizace PP10 Educators • Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, St. Anne's University Hospital (ARK) • Department of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Care, University Hospital Brno (KARIM) • Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, University Hospital Brno (KDAR) 11 Contacts ̶ Lukáš Dadák lukas.dadak@mail.muni.cz ̶ guarantor of teaching ̶ problems of 1st meeting, visa or late arrival ̶ everything about First Aid course ̶ Jan Dvořáček dvoracek@med.muni.cz ̶ SIMU technician ̶ Forgotten things 12 Actual information are always available in First aid e-learning in the part Instructions and organisation.
