The main purpose of the training is to obtain experience with common work of graduated doctors. Student should personally perform all the routine activities of young doctors, of course under supervision of responsible department staff. Students are required to make daily ward – rounds, check all assigned patients, and prescribe medication. They participate in ordering the scheduled examinations and laboratory assessments. Students refer their assigned patients during the great ward - rounds with the Head – professor of the department. They prepare and record the admission and discharge reports of hospitalized patients. Besides of patient´s care students participate on diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (ultrasound, echocardiography, treadmill tests, endoscopy, sternal punction…). Students shall know standard diagnostic procedures and tests for individual clinical conditions of the patient and shall be able to apply them in practice. Students shall also be able to indicate and substantiate basic laboratory and examination methods for specific disease groups. Students will learn about work organization in different departments. Students will gain practical experience how to work with medical records and other relevant documentation. In the end of the course students shall be able to set up the diagnosis and to treat different internal diseases and conditions. At the end of the PP students are required to prepare a short case report presentation of a typical internal diagnosis. The patient for the case report is usually chosen by the student´s tutor. They present several slides with the case and theoretical background in front of the other students and the tutor including a final discussion. Finally, students receive a brief evaluation of their skills by responsible tutor.
