Student shall acquire and implement theoretical knowledge in taking intensive care of sick adults. Student shall summarise her/his knowledge in diagnostics, therapy and prevention of surgical diseases in different age periods, according to particular physiological systems. By the end of the course students should be able to perform physical examination of the patient. They should be able to assess physical findings and distinguish them from pathological ones. Students shall know standard diagnostic and therapeutic surgical procedures and tests for individual clinical conditions of the patient and shall be able to apply them in practice. Students shall also be able to indicate and substantiate basic laboratory and examination methods for specific disease groups. Students will learn about work organization in different surgical subspecialties. Students will gain practical experience how to work with medical records and other relevant documentation. In the end of the course students shall be able to set up the diagnosis and to set treatment plan for different diseases and conditions. Suppose to be able to suture simple wounds and observe operations from general, vascular, endocrine, and thoracic and trauma surgery. Evaluate imaging methods including endoscopy. Identify and name different surgical tools and instruments, name different surgical procedures and know the basic operating procedure. Syllabus: * Individual practical training. * Examination of patient. * Observation of surgeries at the OR, * Laboratory and diagnostic methods in different types/groups of illness and treatment options. * Observe treatment of acute conditions at ICU, emergency room and critical care medicine, chest drainage, abscesses drainage, insertion of indwelling catheters.
