QUALIFICATION CONDITIONS OF THE ERASMUS PROGRAMME FOR STUDENT MOBILITY FOR STUDY Financial means for student mobility – study periods within the Erasmus programme – shall be used in accordance with the following conditions. 1. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY PERIOD 1.1 A scholarship will be provided to a student who participates in a study period in a country engaged in the Lifelong Learning Programme 1 carried out within a bilateral agreement between the nominating institution and the host institution with the aim of conducting the relevant eligible activities at the host institution. 1.2 Student mobility may only take place at a partner higher education institution resident in a country engaged in the Lifelong Learning Programme with which the nominating institution has concluded a bilateral agreement. 1.3 Both the nominating institution and the host institution must be holders of the Erasmus University Charter awarded by the European Commission. 2. CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO THE NOMINATED STUDENT 2.1 A student may participate in Erasmus mobility if he or she a) is duly enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral study programme at the nominating institution; b) is enrolled at the nominating institution at least in the second year of bachelor studies (daily, combined or remote); c) is a citizen of one of the LLP countries or a citizen of another country but studies in one of the LLP countries in an accredited study programme. 2.2 The student must be duly enrolled for studies at the nominating institution during the entire study period abroad, i.e. the student may not interrupt or terminate studies at the nominating institution before termination of the study period abroad. 3. SELECTION OF THE STUDENT 3.1 The selection of the student who will participate in a study period within the Erasmus programme must take place on the basis of a transparent selection process whose organisation and conditions are within the competence of the nominating institution. 3.2 A student who is a citizen of one of the LLP countries or a citizen of another country but studies in one of the LLP countries in an accredited study programme and would like to travel from the Czech Republic for a study period into his or her country of origin should have the lowest priority in the selection process. 1 Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Lichtenstein, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey. 4. ELIGIBLE ACTIVITIES DURING A STUDY PERIOD ABROAD The financial support is provided exclusively for the following activities (“eligible activities”): a) full-time (daily) undergraduate or post-graduate study including preparation of a bachelor’s thesis/ diploma thesis / dissertation / graduation thesis (except for research activities that are not expressly stated as part of the study programme), leading to the acquisition of a diploma or qualification recognised at the Nominating Institution; b) a combination of study period at the host institution and work experience provided that the work experience is guaranteed by the same host institution where the student pursues the study period; the study period and the work experience must be directly consecutive; the duration of the study and work experience combination is 3 to 12 months; the financial support is awarded to the student for the entire duration of the stay under the rules for financial support for a study period, c) participation in an Erasmus Intensive Language Course (EILC). 5. DURATION OF THE STUDY PERIOD 5.1 The eligible activities may take place in the period from June 1, 2011, to September 30, 2012. 5.2 The study period must last at least 3 months or one full academic trimester; the maximum length of a stay is 12 months. 5.3 If the duration of the study period in full months is not complied with, the scholarship for the last month is awarded based on the number of days in the last month as follows: zero scholarship for 1 to 7 days; half of the monthly scholarship for 8 to 20 days; the entire monthly scholarship for 21 to 30 days. 6. SCHOLARSHIP 6.1 The scholarship is provided in the form of a lump-sum amount for one month of stay abroad, which is equal for the students of all universities in the Czech Republic. 6.2 The scholarship covers only part of the costs; the student is expected to provide co-financing. 6.3 Financial means are paid only into a bank account kept in CZK and entered in the Information System of Masaryk University. 7. STUDENT WITHOUT SCHOLARSHIP (zero-grant student) 7.1 Mobility within the Erasmus programme is available also to students who have not been awarded any scholarship. Such students will receive the zero-grant status of an Erasmus student, allowing them to benefit from all advantages offered by the Erasmus programme. 7.2 The Erasmus zero-grant status will be granted to any student who has nationality of the country he/she intends to spend an Erasmus study period in. 7.3 A student without a scholarship is subject to all the rules following from the Financial Agreement except for the provisions on the amount and payment of scholarship. 8. PROLONGATION OF A STUDY PERIOD 8.1 A study period may be prolonged if the internal rules of the nominating institution permit this and if the following conditions are fulfilled: d) there is the written consent of the nominating institution and the host institution to the prolongation of the study period, which is signed before termination of the original study period; e) an amendment to the Financial Agreement concluded between the student and the nominating institution is drawn up before completion of the original study period; f) the prolongation period follows on immediately from the original study period; g) the maximum duration of the study period, i.e. 12 months, is not exceeded; h) the study period, including prolongation, ends by September 30, 2012, at the latest. 8.2 The student does not become automatically entitled to funding of the prolonged study period; it is up to the nominating institution whether it awards a scholarship for the prolonged period. 9. SECOND STUDY PERIOD WITHIN THE ERASMUS PROGRAMME 9.1 Repeated student mobility within the Erasmus programme is subject to the following rules: a) every student is entitled to only one Erasmus study period during the whole course of his/her university or college studies; b) every student is entitled to only one Erasmus work experience period during the whole course of his/her university or college studies; c) the maximum period spent abroad within the Erasmus programme is 24 months; d) equal rules apply to study periods and work experience taken within the Socrates and Leonardo da Vinci II programmes that took place from 2000 to 2006. 9.2 The above provision applies equally to mobility with or without scholarship, i.e. also to students on a stay with Erasmus zero-grant status. 9.3 The student may spend one study period within the Erasmus programme in several countries (for the period as specified in paragraph 5) provided that the individual parts of the programme form a single study period guaranteed by a single host institution. The conditions of such a stay must be agreed between the nominating institution and the host institution in the relevant bilateral agreement. 10. FEES 10.1 The host institution may not request payment of any university fees from students enrolled for studies within the Erasmus programme (e.g. for tuition, registration, examinations, laboratories, libraries, etc.). 10.2 Nevertheless, the host institution may charge certain small amounts to cover student insurance, membership of student unions and organisations or the use of various materials (photocopies, laboratory products, etc.) according to rules applicable to regular students. 10.3 In addition, the students may be requested to pay regular tuition fees at their nominating institution even during their studies abroad. 10.4 The nominating institution may not charge the student any fees for the organisation and administration of the study period abroad.
