Directive of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, Masaryk University, No. 6/2017 General Study Obligations in Bachelor’s and Follow-up Master’s Studies (in the version effective from 20 October 2021) In accordance with Section 28(1) of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on Modification and Amendment of Other Acts (Higher Education Act), as later amended (hereinafter referred to as the “Act”), and the FEA Organizational Regulations, I issue this Directive: Section 1 Subject of Regulation 1. The subject of regulation is the definition of general obligations during study at the FEA MU. Section 2 Bachelor’s Single-subject Studies in the Full-time Mode 1. The student has to meet the following requirements to successfully complete a Bachelor’s degree programme in the full-time mode and to obtain the degree of “bakalář” (Bachelor): a) obtain the minimum number of 180 credits in the required structure and form in accordance with the current Course Catalogue, i.e. credits for all compulsory courses as determined by the model study plan, which include 2 credits for the compulsory course “Physical Education” and 16 credits for the compulsory course “Language I” on the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; the choice of selective courses in the number and structure as determined by the model study plan; the remaining credits shall be for elective courses; b) complete at least one of the below requirements in a foreign language: · one course taught in a foreign language; · one-semester stay at a higher education institution abroad organized by the faculty; · work placement abroad within the Erasmus programme; · course XPX_LSVZ Summer School Abroad (the school must be provably held in a world language) or in accordance with other faculty agreements. This requirement must be fulfilled separately in each stage of studies. c) successfully complete all repeated courses including freely elective courses that have to be repeated under Section 20(2) of the MU Study and Examination Regulations; d) successfully pass the final state examination. Section 3 Follow-up Master’s Single-subject Studies in the Full-time Mode 1. The student has to meet the following requirements to successfully complete a follow-up Master’s degree programme in the full-time mode and to obtain the degree of “inženýr” (Engineer): a) obtain the minimum number of 120 credits in the required structure and form in accordance with the current Course Catalogue, i.e. credits for all compulsory courses as determined by the model study plan, which include 5 credits for the compulsory course “Language II” on the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; the choice of selective courses in the structure as determined by the model study plan; the remaining credits shall be for elective courses; b) during studies at the faculty, complete: · at least one course taught in a foreign language; · one-semester stay at a higher education institution abroad organized by the faculty; · summer school abroad held in one of the foreign languages taught in the courses “Language I” and “Language II”; · work placement abroad within the Erasmus programme; · course XPX_LSVZ Summer School Abroad (the school must be provably held in a world language) or in accordance with other faculty agreements. This requirement must be completed separately in each stage of studies. c) pass equivalency examinations, if required, within the set periods, without obtaining credits; d) successfully complete all repeated courses including freely elective courses that have to be repeated under Section 20(2) of the MU Study and Examination Regulations; e) successfully pass the final state examination. 2. A student who is not a graduate of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme at the Faculty of Economics and Administration MU is obliged to demonstrate that he/she successfully passed the examination in a course equivalent to “Language I”, otherwise this obligation will be prescribed to the student in the follow-up Master’s studies. The student shall choose the languages in such a way that “Language II” is not identical with “Language I”, and one of the selected languages is English. Section 4 Bachelor’s Single-subject Studies in the Combined Mode 1. The student has to meet the following requirements to successfully complete an academic Bachelor’s degree programme in the combined mode and to obtain the degree of “bakalář” (Bachelor): a) obtain the minimum number of 180 credits in the required structure and form in accordance with the current Course Catalogue, i.e. credits for all compulsory courses as determined by the model study plan, which include 16 credits for the course “Language I” on the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; the choice of selective courses in the structure as determined by the model study plan; the remaining credits shall be for elective courses; b) successfully complete all repeated courses including freely elective courses that have to be repeated under Section 20(2) of the MU Study and Examination Regulations; c) successfully pass the final state examination. 2. The student has to meet the following requirements to successfully complete a career-oriented Bachelor’s degree programme in the combined mode and to obtain the degree of “bakalář” (Bachelor): a) obtain the minimum number of 180 credits in the required structure and form in accordance with the current course catalogue, i.e., credits for all compulsory courses as determined by the model study plan, which include 12 credits for the course “Language I” on the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; the choice of selective courses in the structure as determined by the model study plan; the remaining credits shall be for elective courses; b) successfully complete all repeated courses including freely elective courses that have to be repeated under Section 20(2) of the MU Study and Examination Regulations; c) complete practical training in the scope of 12 weeks; d) successfully pass the final state examination. Section 5 Follow-up Master’s Single-subject Studies in the Combined Mode 1. The student has to meet the following requirements to successfully complete a follow-up Master’s degree programme in the combined mode and to obtain the degree of “inženýr” (Engineer): a) obtain the minimum number of 120 credits in the required structure and form in accordance with the current Course Catalogue, i.e. credits for all courses as given by the model study plan, which include 5 credits for the compulsory course “Language II” on the B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; the choice of selective courses in the structure as determined by the model study plan; the remaining credits shall be for elective courses; b) pass equivalency examinations, if required, within the set periods, without obtaining credits; c) successfully complete all repeated courses including freely elective courses that have to be repeated under Section 20(2) of the MU Study and Examination Regulations; d) successfully pass the final state examination. 2. A student who is not a graduate of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme at the Faculty of Economics and Administration MU is obliged to demonstrate that he/she successfully passed the examination in a course equivalent to “Language I”, otherwise this obligation will be prescribed to the student in the follow-up Master’s studies. The student shall choose the languages in such way that “Language II” is not identical with “Language I”, and one of the selected languages is English. Section 6 Inter-faculty, Double-subject and Major/Minor Studies 1. Model study plans for inter-faculty degree programmes need not comprise the obligation to complete the courses of Physical Education, Language I, Language II, and a course taught in a foreign language. 2. Model study plans for double-subject studies need not comprise the obligation to complete the courses of Physical Education, Language I, Language II and a course taught in a foreign language, and comprise the obligation to obtain the minimum number of 90 credits for Bachelor’s degree programmes, and 60 credits for follow-up Master’s degree programmes. 3. Model study plans for major/minor studies in the major study plans comprise the obligation to complete the courses of Physical Education, Language I, Language II and a course taught in a foreign language, and comprise the obligation to obtain the minimum number of 120 credits for Bachelor’s degree programmes, and 80 credits for follow-up Master’s degree programmes. The minor study plan does not comprise the obligation to complete the above courses, while it prescribes the obligation to obtain the minimum number of 60 credits for Bachelor’s degree programmes, and 40 credits for follow-up Master’s degree programmes. Section 7 Foreign-language Bachelor’s Studies in the Full-time Mode 1. The student has to meet the following requirements to successfully complete a Bachelor’s degree programme in the full-time mode that is taught in a foreign language and to obtain the bachelor’s degree: a) obtain the minimum number of 180 credits in the required structure and form in accordance with the current Course Catalogue, i.e. credits for all compulsory courses as determined by the model study plan, which include 2 credits for the compulsory course “Physical Education” and 2 credits for the compulsory course “Czech Language for Beginners 1”; the choice of selective courses in the structure as determined by the model study plan; the remaining credits shall be for elective courses; b) successfully complete all repeated courses including freely elective courses that have to be repeated under Section 20(2) of the MU Study and Examination Regulations; c) successfully pass the final state examination. Section 8 Foreign-language Follow-up Master’s Studies in the Full-time Mode 1. The student has to meet the following requirements to successfully complete a follow-up Master’s degree programme in the full-time mode that is taught in a foreign language and to obtain the master’s degree: a) obtain the minimum number of 120 credits in the required structure and form in accordance with the current Course Catalogue, i.e. credits for all compulsory courses as determined by the model study plan; the choice of selective courses in the structure as determined by the model study plan; the remaining credits shall be for elective courses; b) successfully complete all repeated courses including freely elective courses that have to be repeated under Section 20(2) of the MU Study and Examination Regulations; c) pass equivalency examinations, if required, within the set periods, without obtaining credits; d) successfully pass the final state examination. Section 9 Final Provisions 1. This Directive replaces Directive No. 6/2017 of 29 August 2017. 2. I authorize the Vice-dean for Full-time Studies, the Vice-dean for Quality and Lifelong Learning, and the Vice-dean for Internationalization to interpret the individual provisions hereof. 4. The compliance with this Directive shall be inspected by the head of the Office for Studies except for the provisions of Sections 7 and 8, where the compliance shall be inspected by the head of the Office for International Relations.[DEL: :DEL] 5.
