MUI\II MED i:.J. : MU-IS/90824/2019/920494/LF-1 Directives of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University c. 3/2019 Compulsory vaccination of students of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University against viral hepatitis A and B The Dean of the Lekai'ske Faculty of Masaryk University (hereinafter referred to as "LF MU") hereby issues this Directive in accordance with § 28 (1) of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments and Additions to Other Acts, as amended by later regulations: Cl. I Subject of modification This Directive regulates, in connection with the Decree of the Ministry of Health No. 537/2006 Coll. on vaccination against infectious diseases, as amended by later regulations (hereinafter referred to as the "Decree"), the obligations of students enrolled in all study programmes of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University participating in practical training in facilities providing health services under § 2 of Act No. 372/2011 Coll, on health services and the conditions of their provision (Health Services Act), as amended by later regulations. Cl. II Vaccination against viral hepatitis B 1. On the basis of § 9 of the Decree, students of medical faculties preparing for activities related to the vaccination and immunisation of natural persons in health care facilities are obliged to undergo a special vaccination against viral hepatitis B. 2. The inoculation is carried out by the application of four doses of the inoculant. Vaccination is considered complete after the 3rd dose has been administered. 3. Students born in the Czech Republic before 1989 and foreign students, including students from Slovakia, are obliged to present a certificate of protective vaccination in one of the forms at the latest when enrolling in the study programme: a) Written confirmation issued by the health care provider of the vaccination. b) A photocopy of the vaccination certificate. The student is obliged to submit the original vaccination card together with the photocopy to the StudentDepartment of the MU Faculty of Medicine for inspection. c) A written confirmation issued by a health care provider of the antibody titre against HBsAg with a result of 1O IU /or tr . 4. In the event that the student is not inoculated against Hepatitis B virus or does not receive the required vaccination during the enrolment in the study, it is his/her obligation to be inoculated during the first year of study and to prove this fact to the Study Department of the MU Faculty of Medicine at the latest by the end of the academic year in which he/she was enrolled in the study, i.e. by 31 August of the fifth academic year. 5. A student who proves, on the basis of a written certificate issued by a health care provider, that he/she has been exposed to viral hepatitis B is not obliged to provide a certificate of vaccination against viral hepatitis B. Cl. 111 Special vaccination against viral hepatitis A 1. In accordance with § 1O of the Decree, students preparing for a career in the basic components of the integrated rescue system are obliged to be vaccinated against viral hepatitis A. 2. Obligation to provide a certificate of vaccination against hepatitis A die Cl. II (3) (a) and (b) of this Directive, students of the following academic programmes must already be enrolled in their studies, at the latest within the time limit specified below: a) Students of the Bachelor's degree programme in Health Rescue shall submit the confirmation no later than the end of the first semester of the academic year in which they are enrolled for studies, i.e. by 31 January of the fifth academic year. b) Students of the follow-up Ph.D. and Ph.D. programmes of study in intensive care, full-time form of teaching, shall submit the confirmation no later than by the 10th week of the first semester of the academic year in which they are enrolled. c) Students of the follow-up master's degree programme in intensive care, combined form of teaching, shall submit the confirmation no later than the beginning of the academic year in which they are enrolled for study, i.e. by 1 September of the fifth academic year. Cl.IV Joint establishment 1. The confirmation of vaccination may be required from students repeatedly during their studies in connection with participation in practical training at clinical workplaces providing practical training in cooperation with LF MU. 2. If a student fails to fulfil his/her obligation according to this directive or fails to submit a valid certificate of vaccination according to this directive upon request of the MU Faculty of Medicine Study Department, this will be considered as a failure to fulfil his/her study obligations. The student will also not be allowed to enrol in compulsory practical courses and participate in practical classes. 3. A student who does not have a written confirmation of vaccination or who has not been vaccinated can use the university-wide doctor who will determine the further procedure (vaccination, collection of antibodies, etc.) Cl. V Establishment 1. The Head of the Study Department of the MU Faculty of Arts and the Head of the Foreign Affairs Department of the MU Faculty of Arts are responsible for monitoring compliance with this directive. 2. The interpretation of the individual provisions of this guideline is provided by the Study Department of the MU Faculty of Medicine. 3.
