The Measure of the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University No. 5/2019 The scholarship programme to support PhD students studying in a foreign language (with effect from 1 September 2019) Pursuant to Section 28 (1) of Act No. 111/1998 Sb., On Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments to Other Acts (Higher Education Act), as amended (hereinafter referred to as the “Higher Education Act”), I hereby issue the following measure: Article 1 The Scholarship Programme Specification The scholarship programme to support students in the doctoral degree programme studying in a foreign language is one of the scholarship programmes of the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University (hereinafter referred to as the “Faculty”), which, in accordance with Art. 3 (1) (b) of The Masaryk University Scholarship Rules, is declared by the Dean of the Faculty. Article 2 The Purpose of the Scholarship Programme and its Duration 1. The purpose of the scholarship programme is to support students studying at the Faculty within a doctoral degree programme in a foreign language. 2. The scholarship is intended to cover some of the costs associated with studying within doctoral degree programmes in a foreign language at the Faculty. 3. The scholarship programme is declared to last till the end of the 2019/2020 academic year. If no other duration of the programme is announced by the end of this period, or if the programme is not canceled, its duration is extended by another academic year. Article 3 The Requirements for the Scholarship Award 1. The scholarship may be awarded to a student within a doctoral study programme in a foreign language who has been registered in the 3rd, 5th or 7th semester of their studies, and who: a) has applied for the scholarship; b) has been duly registered in the 3rd, 5th, or 7th semester of their studies, c) has paid all prescribed fees for their studies and has no other outstanding obligations in relation to 2/2 Masaryk University, d) has properly carried out their individual curricula; and e) has achieved excellent results in their studies. 2. In a calendar year, the scholarship may be awarded to a maximum of two students in each year of studies in the respective doctoral degree programme. 3. The scholarship need not be awarded to any of the applicants. There is no legal entitlement to the scholarship. Article 4 The Scholarship Amount and Sources of Funding 1. The amount of the scholarship is determined by the Dean on the basis of a proposal from the relevant Doctoral degree programme board so that it should amount to a maximum sum corresponding to the total fees for studies within a doctoral study programme carried out in a foreign language paid by the student in the previous academic year. 2. The scholarship is provided from funds obtained from the Faculty's additional activities. Article 5 The Application for the Scholarship Award and its Amount 1. The scholarship and its amount are determined by the Dean of the Faculty at the application of the student recommended by their supervisor and the relevant Doctoral degree programme board. The application must be submitted no later than 31 October of the relevant calendar year. 2. The application for scholarship award shall include (Appendix 1): a) the student's name, surname and identification number b) the name and surname of the supervisor, c) the supervisor's statement, and d) the statement of the Doctoral degree programme board. Article 6 Final provisions 1. I hereby appoint the Vice-Dean for the PhD study programme and JUDr. doctoral degree programme to supervise the implementing, carrying out and possible updating of this measure. 2.
