Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University Measure No. 13/2020 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM TO SUPPORT STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES AT THE FACULTY OF ARTS OF MASARYK UNIVERSITY In accordance with § 28, Paragraph 1 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on Modification and Amendment of Other Acts (Higher Education Act), as later amended (hereinafter referred to as the “Act”), I issue the following Measure: Section 1 Specifications of the scholarship program The scholarship program to support students participating in the activities of departments at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University (hereinafter referred to as the “scholarship program”) is announced by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University (hereinafter referred to as the “FF MU”) in accordance with the provisions of Section 3 subsection 1 clause b) of the Masaryk University Scholarship and Bursary Regulations. Section 2 Purpose and duration of the scholarship program (1) The purpose of the scholarship program is to motivate students to perform abovestandard administrative and organisational work at the FF MU academic departments by engaging them in solving unique administrative tasks arising from the organisation of academic and scientific life at these FF MU departments, such as the preparation of study documents, editorial work, organisational assistance, solving current tasks within the operation of the relevant academic department, as well as various other forms of student involvement in teaching implemented at the relevant academic department. (2) The scholarship program is hereby announced for an indefinite period from the entry of this measure into effect. Section 3 Source of funding for the scholarship program (1) The primary source of funding for scholarships is the faculty’s Scholarship Fund, until the available funds are exhausted. (2) The source of funding may also be the budgets of individual institutes or economic departments, or other sources listed in the applicable numbering scheme, except for contributions and subsidies within the meaning of Section 18 of the Higher Education Act. Section 4 Conditions for awarding scholarships (1) The scholarship to support students participating in the activities of departments at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University can be awarded to all students of the FF MU, i.e. those who are actively studying at the time of submitting the application or proposal and, at the same time, on the date of the decision to award the scholarship. (2) The scholarship cannot be awarded for the performance of dependent work (the awarded activity must not result from a subordinate relationship with an employer within MU, is not systematic or long-term, and proposals must not be submitted regularly). Section 4 Proposal for the award of the scholarship (1) A proposal for the award of the scholarship may be submitted ex officio through the FF MU Office for Studies by the heads of individual FF MU academic departments or the principals of operations of the relevant orders from which the scholarship is paid. (2) The scholarship application is submitted electronically and includes a clearly articulated justification by the applicant. The relevance of this justification is decided by the Dean or the authorized Vice-Dean. (3) The scholarship award decision is made in electronic form and has a digital signature. The decision is delivered to the student via the IS MU Document Office. Section 5 The amount of the scholarship and its payment (1) The amount of the scholarship should not exceed CZK 15,000 in each case. A higher amount may be awarded only in particularly justified and exceptional cases. The Dean or the authorized Vice-Dean decides on the reasonableness of the proposed amount. (2) The scholarship is awarded and paid out in one lump sum on the next payment date to the bank account specified by the student in the IS MU. Section 6 Final provisions (1) This measure builds on the Masaryk University Scholarship and Bursary Regulations. (2) This measure is checked, interpreted, and updated by the Vice-dean for Bachelor’s and Master’s Studies of the FF MU. (3) The Faculty Bursar of the FF MU checks the use of funds for scholarship purposes. (4) This measure comes into force upon signature.
