Measures of the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University No. 3/2022 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME FOR STUDENTS IN DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES (in effect as of 29 March 2022) In accordance with Section 28(1) of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments and Additions to Other Acts (the Higher Education Act), as amended (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”’), I issue the following Measure: Section 1 Scholarship Programme Specifications The Scholarship Programme for Students in Difficult Circumstances (hereinafter referred to as the “scholarship programme”) is announced by the dean of the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University (hereinafter referred to as “FF MU”) in accordance with the provisions of Article 3 subsection 1 clause b) of the Masaryk University Scholarship Regulations. Section 2 Purpose and duration of the scholarship programme (1) The purpose of the scholarship programme is to alleviate particularly difficult, legitimate life situations of FF MU students. (2) The scholarship programme is hereby announced for an indefinite period from the entry into force of this measure. Section 3 Source of funding for the scholarship programme The source of funding for the scholarships is the FF MU scholarship fund or other sources listed in the applicable order book. Section 4 Conditions for awarding the scholarship (1) The scholarship will be awarded to the student if the following conditions are met: a) is a student of a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral study programme implemented at the FF MU in full-time or a combined form of study and is not subject to the obligation to pay a fee for study in a study programme implemented in a foreign language. An exception to this provision may be granted by the authorized vice-dean; b) was suddenly in a particularly difficult life situation through no fault of their own; c) is not in the process of completing studies in any of their active studies at FF MU. (2) The award of the scholarship is discretionary. (3) A prerequisite for the award of a scholarship is sufficient funds in the scholarship fund. Section 5 Scholarship application and its requirements (1) In addition to the general requirements (name, surname, student ID number, place of residence), the application must include the reason for the application and annexes proving the student’s difficult living situation. (2) Scholarship applications may be submitted at any time during the academic year, but no more than once per semester. (3) If a student applies or has applied for a scholarship due to a difficult living situation in another scholarship programme (e.g., announced by the MU Rector), the student is obligated to indicate this fact in the application. Section 6 Amount of scholarship, award and payment of scholarship (1) The amount of the scholarship awarded depends on the documented seriousness of the student’s life situation, the discretion of the dean or the vice-dean authorized by the dean, and the balance of funds in the scholarship fund. Consideration is also given to whether the student has exceeded the standard period of study in any of their active studies at FF MU. (2) The delivery of the decision on the award of the scholarship is governed by the Masaryk University Scholarship Regulations. (3) After the scholarship is awarded, it is paid in a lump sum in Czech crowns to the bank account specified by the student in the IS MU. Section 7 Final provisions (1) This measure repeals FF MU Directive No.1/2016 Scholarship for FF MU students in difficult circumstances, dated 29 April 2016, effective as of 29 April 2016. (2) This measure follows the Masaryk University Scholarship Regulations. (3) Control, interpretation, and updating of this measure is carried out by the vice-dean for bachelor’s and master’s studies. (4) The faculty bursar controls the use of funds for the purposes of the scholarship. (5) This measure shall enter into force on the date of signature.
