Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University Measure No. 8/2020 SCHOLARSHIP FOR OUTSTANDING RESULTS IN RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (as amended with effect from 25 June 2020) In accordance with § 28, Paragraph 1 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on Modification and Amendment of Other Acts (Higher Education Act), as later amended (hereinafter referred to as the “Act”), I issue the following Measure: Section 1 Subject of regulation (1) In accordance with the provisions of Section 91(2)(b) of the Higher Education Act, a scholarship for outstanding results in research and development may be awarded to a student, including ex officio, for outstanding results in research and development, innovation, artistic or other creative achievements contributing to the enhancement of knowledge. (2) In accordance with Section 7 of the Masaryk University Scholarship and Bursary Regulations, the scholarship for outstanding results in research and development is awarded by the Dean of the Faculty or the Vice-Dean authorized by the Dean. (3) This measure further regulates the conditions for submitting applications and proposals relating to the award of the exceptional scholarship, and the procedure according to which such applications and proposals are processed. Section 2 Purpose of the scholarship The purpose of the scholarship for outstanding results in research and development is to reward students for outstanding performance in the field of research and development at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University (hereinafter referred to as the “FF MU”). Examples of such performance include participation in scientific and research teams, or participation in the results of their activities. Section 3 Conditions for awarding the scholarship (1) The scholarship for outstanding results in research and development can be awarded to all students of the FF MU, i.e. those who are actively studying at the time of submitting the application or proposal and, at the same time, on the date of the decision to award the scholarship. (2) The scholarship cannot be awarded for the performance of dependent work (the activity awarded must not result from a subordinate relationship with an employer within MU, is not systematic or long-term, and proposals must not be submitted regularly). Section 4 Proposal for the award of the scholarship (1) A proposal for the award of the scholarship for outstanding results in research and development may be submitted ex officio through the FF MU office for studies by the Dean and Vice-Deans of the FF MU, as well as by the heads of individual academic units of the FF MU or the principals of operations of the relevant contracts from which the scholarship is paid. (2) The scholarship application is submitted electronically and includes a clearly articulated justification by the applicant. The relevance of this justification is decided by the Dean or the authorized Vice-Dean. (3) The scholarship award decision is made in electronic form and has a digital signature. The decision is delivered to the student via the IS MU Document Office. Section 5 The amount of the scholarship, source of funding and payment (1) The amount of the scholarship to support exceptional academic performance should not exceed CZK 25,000 in any individual case. A higher amount may be awarded only in particularly justified and exceptional cases. The reasonableness of the proposed amount is decided by the Dean or the authorized Vice-Dean. (2) The source of funding for the scholarship may be the faculty’s Scholarship Fund, the budgets of individual institutes or economic units, or other sources listed in the applicable contract numbering scheme. (3) The principal of operations of the relevant contract is the principal of the scholarship payment. (4) The scholarship is awarded and paid out in one lump sum on the next payment date to the bank account specified by the student in the IS MU. Section 6 Other provisions Any exceptions to the requirements set out in this measure are decided in particularly justified cases by the Dean of the Faculty or the authorized Vice-Dean. Section 7 Final provisions (1) This measure cancels FF MU Measure No. 8/2020 Scholarship for Outstanding Results in Research and Development of 20 February 2020, effective from 20 February 2020. (2) This measure builds on the Masaryk University Scholarship and Bursary Regulations. (3) The implementation of this measure, its interpretation and updating is the responsibility of the Vice-Dean for Bachelor’s and Master’s Studies. (4) The use of funds for scholarships is supervized by the Faculty Bursar. (5) This measure comes into force upon signature.
