Introduction
Dear students, dear readers,
The present publication is designed not only as a study aid and pre-class reading for students of clinical pharmacology but also as a practical guide for novice physicians and pharmacists. Its aim is to briefly review the pharmacology of selected drugs and then to immediately demonstrate the practical application of the acquired knowledge by means of examples. In addition, each chapter offers links to useful databases, calculators, and sources of additional information, pharmacological summaries.
The content is divided into 15 chapters covering general topics such as dose adjustments in the elimination organ dysfunction, drug interactions, principles and tools of reasonable prescribing, and critical reading of clinical trials, but also includes chapters devoted to a specific drug group. The aim of the publication is to strengthen students' knowledge and skills in prescribing, increase their awareness of the risks of pharmacotherapy and thus contribute to improving the safety of therapy in general.
We believe that the publication will become a useful and practical tool, as well as an inspiration for further study of pharmacology and pharmacotherapy.
